The displaced left turn at Dessau/685 & Pecan is dangerous.

Drivers going North and South on Dessau that are needing to take a right turn onto Pecan are disallowed to turn right on red and on green must turn into a *middle* lane.
Late at night, many drivers often turn into the nearest lane and end up facing oncoming traffic.

This is what is expected currently:
Cross the two lanes of left turning traffic from Pecan, enter the single middle lane that is between the traffic going straight on Pecan.
This is not intuitive to most drivers.

Why does it seem so broken?
They left off the right turn lanes...

This missing lane is known as a channelized right turn and though it is mentioned in the DOT guide on this style intersection, it isn't generally left out of most of the considerations in the information guide (link to guide at the bottom)

What is frustrating is the city owns the land these lanes could go into - the South East side is park (granted, a bit of bridge work would be needed and it would use up some of the park space). The NorthWest corner is the future location of the 'Downtown East' project and is already relatively clear (it's one of those corners that fills up with political billboards).

With these channelized right turn lanes added, the unreasonable expectation for drivers to navigate the intersection in an unexpected manner is removed. The right turn rejoins the primary road beyond the lane displacement and is an intuitive merge.
